The digital transformation is in full swing, some branches already had to experience this.

An expert comment by Christian Renk, CEO of Klarna Austria. Hotel and taxi industries are faced with the successes of Airbnb and Uber, the automotive industry is currently pressurised by known internet companies such as Google and Apple. It is once again striking that the attackers almost invariably come from the U.S.A., Europe as a states community and economy lags behind with comparable digital business models. There is a lack of uniform standards, a comprehensive efficient digital infrastructure and consistent collaboration between government and economy.

Nevertheless, there are also European digital business models, which grow dynamically and which boost e-commerce all over Europe. A good example for this are online payment methods. The primary factor for success in digital trading is during payment for goods and services online. With mobile payment via smartphone and tablet, the next revolution is in the starting blocks. In both areas, traditional payment providers in Europe have yet to catch up. The payment processes are often still too complicated, not user-friendly enough or often end at the country’s border. These are all main reasons for purchase cancellations in the online shop.
