IT landscapes in turmoil© Fujitsu

Our professional activities are determined by fast-moving technological developments.

An Expert Comment by Wilhelm Petersmann, Managing Director Fujitsu Austria and Swiss. Structures become more complex and the requirements for the availability and secure use of data are increasing. In order not to lose the connection and to further drive forward business success, small and large companies from a variety of sectors have to adapt to this.

Under one umbrella
However, with the amount of new solutions, applications and services, it is becoming increasingly difficult to maintain an overview. Companies want to bring together various Cloud solutions as well as existing IT infrastructures, automated machine networks (machine-to-machine or Internet-of-Things) and then bring digital concepts such as Big Data together under one umbrella, and then the entire thing should be useable anytime and anywhere and be mobile.
At a time when speed and proximity to the customer and the rapid adaptation of business processes are important, innovative thinking is required. Proactive management of all these information and communication technologies creates the lowest costs and also gives efficiency. For this reason, companies looking ahead can rely on flexible solutions to achieve this digital transformation.

Business-Platforms
One area where investment costs can be significantly reduced are Cloud Services, which include usage-dependent and always adaptable billing models. The advantages of digitization are therefore obvious, but there is often uncertainty on the way. This applies above all to information and experience as a basis and decision-making principle.
Here, so-called business platforms can provide a remedy. As a result, existing systems can be integrated as well as new services, and so-called OpenStack technology also makes it possible to work with several providers. Neutral experts emphasize the flexibility, and this goes from the availability of new digital services to the use of innovations such as Big Data. A further advantage is the possibility of a holistic Cloud implementation. Such business platforms can also be used in a location, department or area, and a cross-company application can also be implemented, for example, if several companies have to work together across a supply chain or added-value chain.
