Mobile advance

The relevance of mobile end devices is increasing. This is shown by a survey by the specialist group UBIT Wien.

(Vienna; english/german) Global megatrends also do not stop short of Austria. This also applies to the use of mobile technologies in daily business. The specialist group Unternehmensberatung, Buchhaltung und Informationstechnologie (UBIT) Wien has asked about 200 IT experts how its clients use mobile end devices in their job.
The use of Cloud Storage is on the rise. Mobile end devices are used for more and more corporate affairs - from fleet management to time recording. Backlogs in the area of proprietary apps and responsive websites could catch up.
Even though smartphones and tablets are a fixed part of everyday working life with about 57 percent of companies, this number has only increased by 10 percentage points since 2014. The trend in the use of cloud storage is different. Compared to 2014, the number of users has doubled. In the meantime, 60 percent rely on mobile cloud storage in everyday business. For more than half of the companies, it is obvious that their employees use their own devices in business to its fullest extent.

Need to catch up
40 percent of companies are still not aware that these developments pose new challenges in the area of security. Although this number has decreased by 14 percent since 2014, there is still the need to catch up.
The mobile fleet management is also gaining relevance. While only 18 percent used it in 2014, this number has more than tripled in the meantime. Likewise, the use of mobile phone signatures has increased in the past 2 years by leaps and bounds, from 13 percent to 54 percent usage rate.
Resource planning (ERP) has already performed using mobile applications in 56 percent of companies. Mobile time recording is also gaining in importance.

Mobiler Vormarsch

Die Relevanz mobiler Endgeräte für Unternehmen nimmt zu. Das zeigt eine Umfrage der Fachgruppe UBIT Wien.

Globale Megatrends machen auch vor Österreich nicht halt. So ist es auch mit der Nutzung mobiler Technologien im Unternehmensalltag. Die Fachgruppe Unternehmensberatung, Buchhaltung und Informationstechnologie (UBIT) Wien hat rund 200 IT-Experten befragt, wie deren Kunden mobile Endgeräte im Job nutzen.
Ein Ergebnis, die Verwendung von Cloud Storage ist auf dem Vormarsch. Mobile Endgeräte werden für immer mehr Unternehmensbelange – vom Fuhrparkmanagement bis zur Zeiterfassung – eingesetzt. Rückstände im Bereich eigener Apps und responsiver Webseiten konnten aufgeholt werden.
Obwohl Smartphones und Tablets bei rund 57 Prozent der Unternehmen fixer Bestandteil des Berufsalltags sind, ist diese Zahl seit 2014 um lediglich 10 Prozentpunkte gestiegen. Anders sieht der Trend bei der Verwendung von Cloud Storage aus. Im Vergleich zum Jahr 2014 hat sich die Nutzerzahl verdoppelt. Mittlerweile verlassen sich 60 Prozent auf mobiles Cloud Storage im Unternehmensalltag. Für mehr als die Hälfte der Unternehmen ist es selbstverständlich, dass ihre Mitarbeiter eigene Devices dienstlich in vollem Ausmaß nutzen.

Aufholbedarf
40 Prozent der Unternehmen ist immer noch nicht bewusst, dass diese Entwicklungen neue Herausforderungen im Bereich Sicherheit mit sich bringen. Obwohl sich diese Zahl seit 2014 um 14 Prozent verringert hat, herrscht weiterhin Aufholbedarf.
Auch das mobile Fuhrparkmanagement gewinnt an Relevanz. Während im Jahr 2014 nur 18 Prozent davon Gebrauch machten, hat sich diese Zahl in der Zwischenzeit mehr als verdreifacht. Ebenso ist die Verwendung der Handysignatur in den vergangenen 2 Jahren sprunghaft, von 13 Prozent auf 54 Prozent Nutzungsrate, angestiegen.
Auch die Ressourcenplanung (ERP) wird in 56 Prozent der Unternehmen bereits über mobile Anwendungen durchgeführt. Die mobile Zeiterfassung gewinnt ebenfalls an Bedeutung.
